In February, I participated in the RPM Challenge and wrote and recorded my very first album of music. Lots of other musicians did the same thing and you can dig through their work on the RPM Jukebox. If anyone wants a list of stuff I thought was pretty good, just ask and I’ll forward you a good starting point on finding some cool stuff.
One of the artists I really liked was Frobisher. And I noticed that the 2009 RPM album is called “Needs a Singer”, at least in part because none of the tracks have a vocalist. So I sent an email asking if I could try to add some vocals. I played with the raw tracks for a bit, then I got flu-ey and all the rest of real life got in the way. But here is my much-belated initial attempt at adding vocals to Frobisher’s otherwise very cool music. (Click to play or right click to download.)
La Reine – Frobisher (& Me)
This is easily my first attempt at any spoken word kind of style. I can’t decide if it’s good or if it stinks, but it was fun to do. Is it worth recording a better version? Some flop, some soar, you know.
For various reasons, these words took forever to sit down and write. Not so much to do the writing as to take the time to put my tail down in one place and do it. I’m re-reading Romeo and Juliet right now, so I included a whole mess of Shakespeare references, which was a lot of fun.
